Harla
Gillespie was born in Williston N. Dakota. She graduated from high
school there
and later from Whapeton State Collage. She moved to Montana in 1964 and
came to Radersburg
MT
in 1971. She raised five children,
two of her own. She began writing poetry in the 1960’s and was
published in
numerous publications under the name of “Moccasin Tracks.”
She has since
published a book about her childhood memories, which became
“Tracks on the
Prairie” in 2003. “Hidden Tales Well Told” was a
seven-year project of information
and stories of the Broadwater Co. area, which she felt should be
published for
people to enjoy. This happened in 2011. Harla and her husband Bill
continue to
live in Radersburg where she is active in her writing and community
projects,
her Church, and vegetable and flower gardens.
